Had a really pleasant week-and-a-half break in Turkey. Went from Istanbul to Cappadocia to Safranbolu and back again to Istanbul passing Ankara located in between the three on each transit. All three towns were awesome in their own ways and the reception received from the locals (on seeing a group of young, Asian/Black, visibly practising Muslims) in the masjids and market places of each of the three places especially beautiful. There was something about Safranbolu though out of the three which really filled me with a sense of serenity. Some pics from the trip uploaded to my YouTube account here, here and here.

beautiful picture. I managed to fo the alfriston to east borne walk, it took more than 6 hours but it was worth it :-)
Awesome. Did you head south and then walk along the main road which connects Seaford and Eastbourne, or did you cut through (with compass and map in hand!) and take a path direct from the hostel to Eastbourne?
I followed the South Downs way trail which went from Alfriston to Eastborne- across the bridge through the Cuckmere valley (with map and compass in hand), it was beautiful to watch the sun rise over the fields! I then walked through Friston Forest (past Westdean) till I got to the country park. After that I walked along the river over the sheep hills. I then followed the trail up and walked across the seven sisters cliffs. Got to Birling gap, had lunch then walked to Beachy Head and down to eastborne. When I got to town I sat by the sea for a couple of hours, it felt pretty good. Would def recommend it! :-)
Cool. Will mark it down on my Ordnance Survey Map when it comes through. Planning on taking a few days out towards the end of December to trail the South Downs Way or as much as time allows like Amanda was mentioning. Might even cycle it. Let's see. Gonna start planning after the November trip we've got scheduled with our youth group. Very impressed with the South Downs!
